Rev. Terry T. Tapley was born in Gary, Indiana and reared in Compton, California.
Rev. Tapley received his post-secondary education in Pomona California. He received his masters in Education from Concordia College and University and completed his undergrad from the University of Oregon.
At the early age of 17, Rev. Tapley preached his first sermon. In August of 1980 he received his license to preach and was ordained by Bishop E. Lynn Brown.
Rev. Tapley is assigned to the Ninth Episcopal District of the Southern California Region and his pastorates include North Fontana C.M.E. Church, 1997 – 1999, Fontana, California, Amos Temple C.M.E. Church, 1999- 2000, Riverside, California, Phillips Chapel C.M.E. Church, 2000-2004, Santa Monica, California, Greater Phillips C.M.E Church, 2004 to present, Compton, California.
Further studies include: Interdenominational Theological Seminary (Certificate program), Azusa Pacific School of Theology.
Rev. Tapley is married to Teresa D. Tapley, president of The Greater Los Angeles District Ministers’ Spouses, Widows, and Widowers. The couple has been married for 19 years. The couple has one daughter Briana who is continuing her college education. The family resides in Moreno Valley, California.
